Medication at school policy

Crain has a full-time school nurse on campus. Parents are encouraged to work with doctors to adjust medication schedules so that medication will be administered at school only if necessary.

When it is absolutely necessary for medication to be administered at school, the following district guidelines must be followed:

• Policy requires that the school must have written permission from parents or legal guardians to administer any medications (prescription or over the counter) to students while at school. Permission forms are available in the nurse’s office.

• The written permission must include the student’s name, time to be given, name of medication(s), amount to be given, date(s) to be given, and a parent or guardian signature.

• All medications (prescription or over the counter) must be in the original container and properly labeled.

• Parents should bring the medication directly to the school nurse.
